PIR is one form of contract farming. PIR is often applied to the plantation core transmigration programs, such as in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, for plantation crops such as oil palm, rubber and others.〔 Construction of health treatment facilities and public facilities such as roads, schools, houses of worship, clinics, and other projects are included in the PIR scheme.
